Dennis & Marthanne | 45th Wedding Anniversary

dedrick-24-3

I was blessed to be able to photograph Dennis and Marthanne on their 45th Anniversary. I just love seeing and being around beautiful, older couples who are so in love with each other and who have taken their commitment seriously! I find it quite inspiring and I love being able to photograph such a strong, deep love between two people.

Dennis and Marthanne renewed their vows in their backyard surrounded by their family and friends on August 23rd. There is a different sort of sweetness and depth in a Renewal of Vows ceremony than in a wedding because the love and commitment has been tested and tried throughout the last 45 years and has grown stronger instead of weaker. It was such a blessing to see Dennis and Marthanne who, 45 years from their wedding day, are even more passionately in love than they were 45 years ago when they began this journey together.

The ceremony was filled with tears and laughter, stories of years past and their pledges for the years to come.

Enjoy your glimpse into their day!

The above photo is one I took of a photo they had out from their wedding day and below is Dennis and Marthanne now.

You do such beautiful work. I should have had to try to get a decent shot of me before you left town, but too late for that now. Besides, I don’t think I could possibly afford you! Love you girl!

The Olson’s | Family

Luanne is a dear friend of my mom’s from their high school days. Earlier this summer she contacted me about photographing their family while they were in town this summer and I, of course, was all for it.  The whole family couldn’t make it, so spouses are missing along with Luanne’s brother’s kids, but we worked with what we had. :) I’ve known the Olson’s my whole life, but it had been at least a three years since I had seen them all, so it was great fun to see everyone again. Hope you enjoy the photos!

The Price’s | Family

Recently, I headed out to Jacksonville to photograph the Price family. My dear friend, Carly, has been talking to me about photographing her family since May and we finally found a time when we were all available and poison-oak free. ;) This family immediately blew me away. I lifted up my camera for the first shot, peered through the view finder, and stopped in my tracks. There they stood, completely relaxed, in place, and all with genuine smiles on their faces! And that’s the first shot of the shoot. I was blown away. I seriously don’t think I’ve had someone who was that relaxed immediately, much less a family of four and to have all of them like that. Definitely a first.

Zoe, their darling dog, also tagged along for the shoot, which I thought was lots of fun. The Price’s are such a close family whose love for each other just shined throughout the shoot. Thank you so much for having me! Hope you enjoy the photos!

Katelyn, you are fabulous! :) If it weren’t for Zoe’s tongue hanging out, no one would ever guess that it was sweltering hot that day…and even though some of us were nervous about the photo shoot, you made us all look good! (Even our panting dog.) :) Thank you for capturing our family so well, and so beautifully.

    perfect.as always.:)

July has vanished!

Well, I’m terribly sorry about my “Nashville…coming soon!” I just looked at the calendar and it’s been a month! I can’t believe it. July has vanished! It’s been the craziest July between work, photography, and getting things squared away for the fall (I’ll let you know about that in August) getting together with friends and other photographers, second-shooting two weddings and a camp! It’s been so fun, but I came to realize that I totally neglected my blog and haven’t even posted on Nashville!

One day we photographed the women at the Nashville Rescue Mission.

blog-1-copy

We did a spontaneous photo shoot with Sarah’s friend, Jazz, on Sarah’s balcony one night because the light was so gorgeous.

blog-2-copy

A little fun during our day in Franklin.

blog-4-copy

One evening we did a bio shoot and Sarah took photos of all of us for our blogs. I LOVE some of the photos she got of me (you’ve probably noticed some in my new header) but she also captured some absolutely hilarious expressions that I apparently make–I hadn’t known my face formed some of the expressions until I saw the photos. This particular one, is the face I make when I take a bad photo of you on a shoot, so by simply counting my expressions throughout the duration of your shoot you’ll know what my good/bad ratio is for the day…not really. ;)

blog-5-copy

Jazz took this photo of all of us during the bio shoot.

blog-6-copy

A “we did” session we did of a couple who got married a while back.

blog-7-copy

We also went to a show one night where we saw Thousand Foot Krutch, Satellites & Sirens, and Sarah’s friend, Nathan Lee, perform.

blog-3-copy

Now you know what you have to look forward too! I’ll be posting more from these shoots and other shoots over the next couple of weeks!
