This year my Grandma turned 80. Naturally, we had to celebrate! We held the event at the Barbey Maritime Center in Astoria which proved to be the perfect venue for the event, right on the river walk with many windows looking out over the river. Somehow we had sun and clear blue skies in January in Astoria. We kept it simple with a table of finger-food, drinks, and plates of Grandma’s three favorite cookies which are also the three cookies she is most known for making: Grandma Abderhalden (her grandma’s) Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Honey Spice Cookies. We also had a memorabilia table with photos and keepsakes from her life thus far. We simply enjoyed time with all our family, friends, and her church family. We took a few minutes before the party to snap a few family photos as we had more of us in one place at one time than we have had in over 6 years (we were only missing 3!) and I took some photos of the event, but for the majority of it, simply put my camera down to enjoy catching up with family I rarely get to see. So, enjoy some of my favorites!
And keep your eye out for my favorite photo-bomb photo…do you see it?
